The night was starting perfectly. Evette wouldn't have accepted anything less. The grand hotel ballroom laid before her and she admired, for a moment, her creativity and eye for decoration. The theme, terastallization, expressed itself tastefully in crystal chandeliers, colored crystal sculptures of climbing ivy and ice spikes placed throughout the hall, and the mandatory utilization of crystal either in jewelry or garment for all in attendance. Her own crystal wear manifested as beads stitched along the slit of her floor length black dress. The live band echoed waltz and the occasional foxtrot against the walls, meant only to be interrupted only by the occasional guest singer and her opening speech. The open bar was already crowded and hors d'oevres made their way around the room escorted by waiters in fitted uniforms. Evette pulled her fur wrap tighter around her shoulders, careful not to muss the pristine white strands.
There were more people in attendance than she expected, but less than she'd hoped for. Nothing to dwell on, she was sure she'd remedy that in the near future. A server passed briskly by, not before she grabbed a flute of champagne off of his tray. Evette eyed around the room once more, took a long sip of her drink, and approached the microphone.
"Good evening, beautiful people of Hoenn," she paused to allow everyone to settle into attention.
"I want to firstly say, thank you for joining me for this occasion. While I've vacationed in Hoenn before, to call it my new home has been an overwhelming transition. Whether you're here for a good time or to make new connections," Or to gawk me in hope for more scandal, Evette thought bitterly, a gracious smile never leaving her face, " I appreciate the opportunity to get to know you all, my new neighbors. Please enjoy the bar and the dance floor to your hearts content. Dinner will be served shortly." The music resumed behind her as she waded out into hall, determined to speak to at least one interesting person before the night ended. [googlefont=Playfair Display]
